GasMetrics · iPhone and iPad

Effective October 19, 2026 · GasMetrics · Atkinson Interactive

The short version

  • Your vehicles and fill-ups — distances, fuel amounts, prices and notes — stay on your device. We never receive them.
  • There are no accounts, no analytics and no crash-reporting tools in the app.
  • Vehicle lookup asks the U.S. government's FuelEconomy.gov service for vehicle ratings. It sends only the year, make and model you pick.
  • The free version shows ads from Google AdMob, which may collect device information to show and measure ads. Premium removes ads entirely.
  • Subscriptions are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details.
  • We don't sell your personal information.

Who we are

GasMetrics is published by Atkinson Interactive (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the GasMetrics app for iPhone and iPad handles, and your choices about it.

Information that stays on your device

Everything you enter in the app is stored only on your device. This includes:

  • Vehicles: name, year, make, model and rated fuel economy
  • Fill-ups: dates, odometer or trip distance, fuel amount, price, total cost and notes
  • Entries you've deleted, kept in Recently Deleted until you remove them
  • Your settings, such as units, currency, language and appearance

We don't operate servers for the app and have no access to this information. It may be included in your device backups (for example, iCloud Backup), which are controlled by you and Apple under Apple's privacy policy.

Vehicle lookup

When you look up a vehicle, the app requests lists of years, makes, models and their EPA ratings from FuelEconomy.gov, a service run by the U.S. Department of Energy. The request contains only the vehicle details you choose. It does not include your fill-ups, your name or any identifier from us. As with any web request, the service receives your IP address. Lookup is optional — you can enter a vehicle by hand instead.

Advertising (free version only)

The free version shows banner ads provided by Google AdMob. To show, limit and measure ads and prevent fraud, Google may collect information from your device such as:

  • Device and advertising identifiers (the Apple Advertising Identifier only if you allow tracking)
  • IP address and approximate location derived from it
  • Device type, operating system, app version and ad interactions

Google does not receive your vehicle or fill-up data. Google processes this information under its own policies: Google Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

Your choices

  • Tracking permission. iOS asks whether the app may track you across other companies' apps and websites. If you choose “Ask App Not to Track”, ads are not personalized using your advertising identifier. You can change this anytime in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
  • Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland). Where required by law, a Google consent form asks for your choices before ads are requested. You can change them anytime in the app under More › Ad Privacy Choices.
  • No ads at all. A Premium subscription removes ads, and no ad requests are made while it is active.

Purchases

Premium is an auto-renewing subscription sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes your payment; we receive no payment or card details. The app only checks with Apple whether your subscription is active. You can manage or cancel it in your Apple account settings.

Crash reports

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash and performance reports. You can turn this off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

What we don't do

  • We don't require an account or collect your name, email, contacts or precise location.
  • We don't use analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
  • We don't sell your personal information or share your vehicle data with anyone.

Deleting your data

Because your data is only on your device, you're in control of it. Swiping an entry away moves it to More › Recently Deleted, where you can restore it or remove it permanently. Deleting a vehicle removes it from your garage. Deleting the app removes all of its data, including settings, from your device. To manage data Google holds for advertising, use the tracking and consent controls above or Google's My Ad Center.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the use of personal information, and to opt out of the “sharing” of information for targeted advertising. We don't hold personal information about you; for advertising data, you can opt out by declining tracking and adjusting your choices under More › Ad Privacy Choices, or by subscribing to Premium. For anything else, contact us using the details below.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has used the free version, the ad controls above apply, and you can contact us.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
